Daman and Diu is a small territory, not very far from Mumbai, attached to the state of Gujarat. It used to be a Portuguese enclave and it is nowadays the perfect place for a weekend getaway. Its capital, Daman, is renowned for the hospitability towards tourists. Daman Beaches are not at all numerous, but they seem to have a special something that attracts tourists. You probably won't find out what this is until you make a trip there. Then you'll be able to tell what is that makes you and other visitors come back.
The most popular of the Daman Beaches is Devka Beach. It is located in the north of Daman and it has an enchanting natural beauty. The coconut groves and the palms are giving it a picturesque aspect and in order for tourists to have some entertainment options, there is also an amusement park right on the beach. Visitors find that admiring the beautiful colored fountains is indeed captivating.
In the southern part of Daman lies the Jampore Beach. This is especially appropriate for sea lovers and for tourists that don't mind isolation and solitude. It is provided with facilities for tourists, such as platforms for picnic, sun shades or benches close to the water. The beach is also renowned for the fact that swimming in the area is very safe. Cricket is also an appreciated activity in the area and in the evenings boys gather together for playing this sport.
While visiting Daman Beaches, especially Devka, you can also go see various other tourist places like Nani Daman for instance. It is filled with shops, bars and restaurants, but also with interesting monuments like the St. Jerome Fort which was built back in 1627 by the Portuguese.
Moti Daman is a place that combines both the fun at the beach and the history of the place. On the beach tourists can admire forts and churches. The most famous one is the Church of Bom Jesus because of its spectacular architecture. The fort at Moti Damon is nowadays the Governor's Palace.
